For the last several days, I have had trouble getting the weather desklet in SAM 2007 to load. I use the one that has the three-day forecast available, and about a week ago it stopped working in both of the machines I use. (I'm sure they are not configured the same in terms of either hardware or software, so I don't know what the problem is.)

The weather2 desklet that only displays current conditions seems to work fine, but it is too limited for my use. The monitoring desklet also works fine. When I try to start the weather desklet, I see a flashing like it is trying to start, then nothing. I get the same flashing with the weather2 desklet, but it eventually loads.

I tried to reinstall desklets, but the system would not let me saying it is already installed. I looked into removing it so I could reinstall it, but Synaptic says it wants to remove SAM-adseklets-extras, which does not appear on my list of available programs in Synaptic.

Any suggestions or ideas as to how to solve this problem or even how to better identify it? Thanks in advance.

Are you sure that the webside your are using for updates is online? I don't know the desklets because I am not using it but I remember the offline of the webside was an issue some time ago.
I'm not sure what you mean. I thought the updates came from http://www.weather.com using the weather ID code. The website works, and changing back to the default code did not work, although it does for the weather2 desklet (I believe they both use the same default location). So I am unsure of what the problem is.
I have the feeling, that the code of the desklet ist not ok. We check that out. But to know the exact situation. When the probs arised and which version of the desklet/screenlet are you using?
In parallel Nico is building the desklets from the scratch so there will be an update in the repos soon. Ones again, which desklets did you install? adesklets, screenlets, or what?
I re-installed 2007 and it is working again. Don“ t ask me why, because I didn“ t change anything. I just started it and it ran.
I have adesklets (version 0.6.1-5pclos2007) installed with the SAM-adesklets-extras package (0.1-1.pclos2007), if that helps any. I also just had the monitoring desklet close on my laptop when I umounted my USB drive for removal. However, I do not use the drive on my desktop (I did once, but the adesklets still worked afterward), so I don't know if there is any connection. Thanks again.

I have the same specs as you Walter H and mine is running. Could you try removing the desklets and re-install them? Maybe that helps.
I'll try that. One thing: on my desktop anyway, the weather desklet now acts like it opens, but I get the error "Weatherforecast: No internet connection" even after I run dhclient to start the connection. (I somehow lost the capability for my internet connection to launch at boot) After I have my network connection up and running, I restart the weather desklet, but I still get the error.

I'll see if uninstalling and reinstalling will do the trick and let you know. Thanks.
One other question: I uninstalled adesklets, and it removed SAM-adesklets-extras as well. But now I don't seem to have the extras package available for reinstallation. Where can I find it? What actually does it add? Thanks.
Question, if you install screenlets, which are in the repos, they have the same weather desklet, would this be a problem for you?
