I am using SAM Linux 2007 and am having a few problems updating the my system. I must admit I haven't done an update for months so there is quite a lot of apps that required updating.

I changed the repository details following the information in Gregor's thread but when I do a Reload in Synaptic I get the following error:
http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/dist...t.nonfree: 404 Not Found

Before I made the changes to sources.list the existing line was
http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/dist...nuxos/apt/ pclinuxos/2007 nonfree

Should I change it back to this or is there another location that I should be using for the nonfree apps?

Another error I am getting when I try to upgrade various apps is:
APT system reports: Error while running transactions
The additional information displayed is all similar to this:
file /usr/share/gdm/themes/Tux_G2_vert/arreter1.png from install of gdm-themes-0.1-12pclos2007 conflicts with file from package SAM-gdm-theme-0.1-1pclos2007

Does anyone know what I need to do to resolve this?

Finally when I updated wbar has disappeared. I think the solution was on the old forum but there isn't access to this at the moment. Can anyone remember how to get it back. I tried running "wbar" in a terminal but I got a message about a wrong path to an image file. I had a look at what seems to be the new image file and it has a totally different set of applications in it than my previous wbar.

Thanks for any help you can give me.

Hallo Zander!
You used copy and paste?
copy this:

Code:
rpm http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/distributions/texstar/pclinuxos/apt/ pclinuxos/2007 nonfree

this should work,

Hey,
the problem with the wbar ist solved in the german forum, you can read it here: http://sam.hipsurfer.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=65

At the end of this thread you can read, that it is an possibility to remove wbar using Synaptic, then reinstall it again.

Thanks for the replies.

The repository problem is now resolved.

I uninstalled wbar and the installed it again but when I run ".Wbar/wbar-sam" in a terminal window I get the following:

line 2: 5316 Segmentation fault (core dumped)

I tried re-installing it but get the same error. Any ideas what the solution might be?

Still looking for a solution for the gdm-themes problem, hopefully someone will be able to help.

Thanks

Zander
With a text editor (i.e. Mousepad) open from your home folder ".Wbar/wbar-sam" and change the settings so you dont have any shortcuts as options.

Nico,

I changed the option shortcuts to their full name and wbar now runs. Thanks.

Another question, where is the file located that tells wbar which icons to display in the bar? I looked in /usr/share/wbar but it isn't in there.

Zander

Hi Zander,
go to your home-directory within thunar, mark the option for showing hidden files. in der folder .Wbar you find a file wbar-sam where wbar settings are stored and a file .wbar which holds the icons and so on. But you can download from our repos the package wbarconf which gives you a GUI for arranging all wbar issues.

Nico,

I see that the wbar can be configured using Desktop Setup but I was just wondering, in my last post, where the .wbar config file is located to try editing it manually.

With my other problem, the conflict between the gdm-theme files, I noticed that in the "Installed (local or obsolete)" section of Synaptic there was the SAM-gdm-theme package. I deleted this package and then upgraded gdm, which worked without any errors.

What I have now found is that I have lost my SAM gdm logon theme and have the default gdm / PClinuxOS Circles one instead.

I would have thought that as we are using specific SAM repos this would not happen. I have never upgraded the desktop-common-data package as I believe that this would also turn some of the SAM theme back to PCLinuxOS, am I right with this?

Will the SAM gdm files have been over written by the PCLinuxOS ones or will I still be able to point gdm to them? If so, where can they be found? If not, is there a package I can install that will re-install the SAM logon theme?

Thanks again.

Zander
Yogibaer,

In the .Wbar folder I can see the wbar-sam file but not the .wbar file that is why I thought it must be stored in a different location.

Thanks

Zander
The .wbar is stored as a hidden file in your home-directory.
