I installed rhythmbox, hoping to use it as a podcatcher for downloading podcasts after reading about its use for that purpose. Unfortunately, I can open it but it doesn't play anything. I get errors stating that Rhythmbox is "Unable to activate plugin" for each of the following: Audio CD Player, Audio CD Recorder, Portable Players, Internet Radio, Portable Players - iPod, and Visualization.

Also, when I right-click on a file to display its properties, there is a message that it is missing the element 'audioconvert' and advising me to check my gstreamer installation. When I did a search for audioconvert, I found the following:

Code:
/usr/lib/gstreamer-0.8/libgstaudioconvert.so
/usr/lib/gstreamer-0.10/libgstaudioconvert.so

I also have gstreamer0.10-plugins-base installed, which is supposed to include audioconvert. Any suggestions or ideas? Thanks.

Did you look into http://www.gnome.org/projects/rhythmbox/ and does it help you?
I read through it, and it did not work initially, but now it does. I think I was missing something other than what it stated, as I had everything it said I was missing installed, but I installed a few other plug-ins, and now it seems to work. Thanks.
